Working in partnership with Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei, using Te Marautanga o Aotearoa as a framework, we are using a Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei centric curriculum, where ākonga will learn the local history, narratives, and genealogy of Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei first; its real world application and connections within the wider Ngāti Whātua second; iwi Māori in general third and then the wider world. All in the Medium of Te Reo Māori, Tikanga Māori, Mātauranga Māori, and Te Ao Māori.
The teaching and learning that occurs in our Rūmaki Reo classes aligns with the Ōrākei School Ako model of teaching which draws from a range of deliberate acts of teaching that promote accelerated learning.
Whānau engagement is integral to the development of our tamariki. It ensures that the triadic relationship between whānau, ākonga, and kura are healthy and strong, which promotes student achievement and success in our community. This aspect drives the success within the Rumaki and is important that it is seen, heard, and felt in all aspects of the Rumaki life. Whānau engagement is as essential as ākonga attendance and participation.
Because this is a Māori Medium educational pathway, the language of instruction, discussion, discourse, feedback, feedforward, debate, praise, reporting is Te Reo Māori, which means a certain level of Te reo Māori proficiency and desire to learn in the medium of Māori is required by all ākonga.
If you are interested in your tamaiti learning within a Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei centric, Māori Medium curriculum, where your child will nurture excellence and achieve being Māori, please fill the form attached below and we will make contact with you as soon as available.
